Membership

You have the opportunity to become a member of Wake Up Lund. As a member you help to support our community, and you as a member can attend any of our weekly meditations as well as get a few other perks. To become a member there is a small membership fee that one pays.

What does the membership entail?

As a member there are a few thing that you get access to:

  • you can attend any and all the weekly meditations as well as most of our other activates like days of mindfulness or similar (the only exception is when we arrange multi-day retreats).
  • you can borrow books from our Sangha library, containing several spiritual and scientific books.
  • you can borrow a meditation pillow for a limited time, hopefully aiding in your own personal practice.
  • you can attend the facilitation workshop, where you get more insight and practice for how to facilitate (if you would also like to practice facilitating).
  • you get to attend an vote at the organization's yearly meeting where new suggestions are discussed and decided on.

How do I join?

You can join by talking to one of the leaders at an event and you will get the info about how to pay the membership fee. As of now we are using either Swish or Revolut as payment methods, we are adaptable so we can probably find another way if these do not work.

How much is the membership fee?

Life is life, sometimes in life things are easier and sometimes things are more challenging. This is also true in concern to one's monetary situation, that is why we provide you with at recommended amount for the membership fee and not a set amount. That is, you are free to contribute with the amount that you feels right for you at the moment, it can be lower or higher than the recommended amount (though, at least 50 kr).

Recommendations:

  • If you have a stable income: 275 kr
  • If you are a student or searching for work: 200 kr

For how long does the membership last?

A membership lasts from the day your payment is revived to the end of the calendar year, that is to the last of December.

I'm not sure. Can I try joining before becoming a member?

Great, we only want you to become a member if you really want to. That is why anyone can join our weekly gatherings three times before deciding to become a member, in that time you will hopefully feel into and decide what feels right for you.

Why is there a membership fee?

Wake Up Lund is a volunteer led community that practices mindfulness together. Wake Up Lund is also a non-profit organization. Both as a community (Sangha) and as a non-profit organization there are some expenditures that we have in conducting our actives, thing like renting of the space at Liberiet, hosting for this webpage and similar. For our community to be able to continue some support is then needed in order to cover these expenditures. By becoming a member you help contribute to the sustainability of Wake Up Lund.

What is the money used for?

Wake Up Lund is a non-profit organization, that means that all the money stays in the organization. The money from the membership fee are mainly used to cover the expenses of running the Sangha (the rent for the local, cost of having the website and similar). Any potential surplus at the end of the year is reinvested in the Sangha, that could be to buy new books for the Sangha library, create a small buffer for next year, a Sangha suggested activity, donated to Plum village, or similar.

Can I lose my membership?

Yes, the board has the authority to decide to end a person's membership early if that person acts in a manner that is harmful to other members of the Sangha or act in ways that strongly discredits the values of mindfulness. This is yet to have happened in our community.

The perks of a membership

As you become a member you will gain access to a few different perks:

Olle

Weekly meditations

As a member you can attend all of our weekly meditations for the rest of the year. This also includes other activities where we gather to practice, such as a day of minfulness or similar.

Arlind

Sangha library

The Sangha has access to some interesting books, containing a mixture of both spiritual and scientific books, also from different traditions. As a member you are free to borrow a book, read it and then return it to the library. After you've returned a book feel free to borrow another one.

This is a great opportunity to delve into some topics and grow both your practice as well as your wisdom.

Martin

Meditation cushion

The Sangha has access to some meditation cushions that a member can borrow for a set amount of time. This can be a great way to gain equipment that may help you establish your own personal practice at home.

As long as there are pillows available you can continue to borrow the pillow. Before you return the pillow you will also wash the external cover. In the event that Wake Up Lund is arraigning a retreat (or similar) the pillow may have to be returned for that set activity.

Martin

Facilitation workshop

As one participates in the Sangha it is quite common that one may want to contribute a bit more and try out facilitating a part of the weekly gatherings. To help you get insight into why, how and in what way to facilitate, as well as how to start this journey, we offer a workshop on facilitation. As a member you are also invited to attend this whole day workshop with both theory and practice, at a time when you might feel drawn to exploring facilitation.

Martin

Organization's yearly meeting

As an organization we have a meeting every year where the direction for the next year is decided upon, as well as new suggestions are discussed an voted on. As a member of Wake Up Lund you are able to attend and also vote at the meeting, influencing the future of Wake Up Lund.
