Meditation - Weekly


Explore the power of mindfulness and meditation together with other interested people, here in Lund. This in person event offers you the opportunity to practice mindfulness in a few different ways. The gathering will be guided by one of Wake Up Lund’s more experienced meditators, they will aid you in exploring what you are experiencing in the present moment, with a gentle and compassionate attitude. The event is free and can be attended by anyone aged 18-35.

 

This event is called a Sangha (meaning "community"), where we will practice mindfulness through:

  • Check in / Weather rapport - A space where everyone is free to share how they are feeling in that moment, which one can compare to a form of weather. The others listen through active listening, that is by focusing their attention on the speaker. (5-10 min.)
  • Mindful meditation - A mindfulness meditation where one is invited to focus inwards, on what one can experience in that moment (observing one’s sensations, feelings and thoughts). This can be either a guided or an unguided mindfulness meditation. (20 min.)
  • Various mindful activity - An alternating mindfulness activity, this can be some form of walking meditation, deep relaxation, movement meditation, eating meditation, or similar activity. One is again invited to focus on what one is experiencing, whilst doing this activity. (20-30 min.)
  • Dharma sharing - The gathering ends with a sharing, here everyone who wants to is invited to share what is on their heart. That could be what is happening in one’s life right now that is affecting emotions/experiences, a realization one has had, or similar. The others are listening through active listening. (20 min.)

It is important to respect the boundaries of both yourself as well as others in this space, you share and partake of the activities in a way that is right for you. Everything that others might share during the gathering stays in that space.

Practical info

Time

We start at 18:15, for the first 10 minutes the host will introduce the practice before it actually starts. If you have attended before you can join between 18:15-18:25 instead. Please be on time (the door needs to be manually unlocked so please be there at the latest at 18:25, in order to respect everyone's time). The event lasts until about 20:00.

 

Who is welcome?

Anyone aged 18-35, no matter your level of previous experience with mindfulness or meditation. If you are new, please contact us beforehand so we know you are coming.

 

Price

Free (this is a volunteer-led activity).

 

What do you need to bring

Yourself, nothing more, nothing less.

During the event we usually find ourselves sitting in a circle on the floor, seated on meditation cushions. If you have your own preferred cushion (or similar), feel free to bring it.

 

Event host

One of Wake Up Lund’s more experienced members in meditation and mindfulness. Some are also officially certified as mindfulness instructors.
